National New Play Network to Present LASSO OF TRUTH in Mill Valley, Atlanta & Kansas City, Begin. Feb. 20, 2014

The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces its 40th Rolling World Premiere: Carson Kreitzer's Lasso of Truth will receive three productions through the Network's Continued Life of New Plays Fund in the 2013/14 season. Lasso of Truth will begin its Rolling World Premiere at Marin Theatre Company (Mill Valley, CA, February 20 - March 16, 2014), followed by performances at Synchronicity Theatre (Atlanta, GA, March 20 - April 13, 2014) and Unicorn Theatre (Kansas City, MO, January 21 - February 8, 2015).

ABOUT THE PLAY
Who is Wonder Woman and where did she come from? One of the country's most incisive and adventurous playwrights turns her lyrical, hard-hitting eye to William Marston, the early 20th-Century psychologist, inventor of the lie detector test, and creator of Wonder Woman. Kreitzer's hallucinatory script crashes Marston's ideas and biography together with onstage manifestations of the two women he actually lived with in a polyamorous relationship: the Wife and the Amazon.

ABOUT Carson Kreitzer
Carson Kreitzer's plays include The Love Song of J. Robert Oppenheimer, SELF DEFENSE or death of some salesmen, 1:23, Flesh and the Desert, The Slow Drag (New York and London), Freakshow, Slither, Dead Wait, and Take My Breath Away, featured in BAM's Next Wave Festival. Her plays have been produced or developed by the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, The Public Theatre, The Royal Court Theatre, the Guthrie Theater, Portland Center Stage, Clubbed Thumb, New Georges, Mabou Mines, Frank Theatre, the Actors Gang, and Next Theatre, among others. She is currently working with composer Matt Gould on a musical inspired by art deco artist Tamara de Lempicka, commissioned by Yale Rep and New Dramatists. Ms. Kreitzer is a member of the Workhaus Collective, the Playwrights' Center and the Dramatists Guild, a New Dramatists alumni playwright, and was the first Playwrights Of New York (PONY) Fellow at the Lark Play Development Center. Behind the Eye, her play about surrealist muse and WWII combat photographer Lee Miller, premiered at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, directed by MarK Wing-Davey, and supported by a grant from the NEA New Play Development Program. ABOUT THE CONTINUED LIFE OF NEW PLAYS FUND
NNPN's flagship program, the Continued Life of New Plays Fund supports three or more theaters which choose to mount the same new play within a twelve-month period. The result is a Rolling World Premiere through which the playwright develops a new work with multiple creative teams, for multiple communities of patrons, ensuring the resulting play is of the highest possible quality. And with a minimum of three productions in a single year, the play attains the momentum it needs to join the repertoire of frequently-produced new American works. NNPN provides grants of $7,000 to the first three participating theaters in each Rolling World Premiere; to date, NNPN has championed the continued life of 39 new plays in over 100 productions, with over a quarter-million dollars in grants.
