Musical Theatre West's Reiner Staged Reading Series Presents DO RE MI

By:

Musical Theatre West's (MTW) Reiner Staged Reading Series (RRS) returns with Jule Styne, Betty Comden, and Adolph Green's Do Re Mi, Sunday, June 3, 7pm at the Beverly O'Neill Theater. Tickets are now on sale at the MTW Ticket Office, by calling (562) 856-1999, ext. 4, online at www.musical.org, or at the Musical Theatre West Ticket Office. Advance general admission tickets for each performance are $27 ($32 on the day of the performance). Seating is general admission, with priority access for Reiner Staged Reading Subscribers.

The Reiner Staged Readings are presented concert style, a bit like radio theatre. Using minimal sets and costumes, but featuring the full script and score with live 14 piece orchestra from Los Angeles Musicians Collective, RRS performances are the perfect way to celebrate the entire spectrum of musical theatre, while discovering some new favorite songs and shows.

Phil Silvers, Nancy Walker and Nancy Dussault originally starred in this spoof of the jukebox industry, by Jule Styne, Betty Comden and Adolph Green, with a book by Garson Kanin. Schemer Hubie Cram figures out how to make a pile of dough out of just a quarter and convinces some of the biggest crooks to go legitimate in this musical that features the classic tune, "Make Someone Happy."

The cast stars Michael Betts (RRS: Amour; Regional: The Drowsy Chaperone and Sondheim on Sondheim) as Hubie Cram; Meloney Collins (RRS: City of Angels; MTW: Little Shop of Horrors) as Kay Cram; and Cole Cuomo (MTW: Disney's Mary Poppins; Regional: 42nd Street, The Scarlet Pimpernel as John Henry Wheeler. Rounding out the cast is Heather Lundstedt O'Neill (RRS: Babes in Arms, Pal Joey; Regional Catch Me If You Can) as Tilda Mullin; Pablo Rossil (RRS: L'il Abner; Regional: Young Frankenstein) as Fatso O'Rear; Jeffrey Landman (RRS: Steel Pier, The Boys from Syracuse; MTW: Young Frankenstein) as Brains Berman; and Gabriel Kalomas (RRS: Babes in Arms, Pal Joey; MTW: Memphis) as Skin Demopoulos (see Calendar Listing for full casting).

Do Re Mi is directed by Daniel Smith, with musical direction by Daniel Thomas.

The Reiner Staged Reading Series is produced by Michael Betts and Gabriel Kalomas and is made possible by a generous donation from Ken & Dottie Reiner with additional funding provided by The Ackerman Family/Evalyn M. Bauer Foundations, Kathy Baker Campbell, Pat & Janice DeRouen, and Ken & Cheryl Simpson.
