Musical Theatre Guild Continues Season with FANNY, 11/14

By:

The award-winning Musical Theatre Guild, a company of professional performers who present concert-staged readings of seldom seen musicals, will continue their 16th season with the 1954 musical FANNY. The performance will take place on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 7:30 PM at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale.

Based on Marcel Pagnol's trilogy of plays (Marius, Fanny and César), FANNY is the bittersweet story of love, secrets and star-crossed young lovers on the Marseilles waterfront. Opening in 1954 with Florence Henderson and Ezio Pinza in leading roles, FANNY ran for 888 performances and features a totally captivating, lush Harold Rome score.

Starring as Fanny and Marius are Jennifer Shelton and Dan Callaway. Also featured in the all MTG member cast are Michael G. Hawkins (Cesar), Roy Leake, Jr. (Panisse), Marsha Kramer (Honorine), David Holmes (The Admiral), Chuck Bergman (M. Brun) and William Martinez (Escartifique). Completing the cast are Christopher Carothers, Robin DeLano, Damon Kirsche, Jen Malenke, Shauna Markey, Brandon Michael Perkins and Mark Reis. FANNY will be directed by Larry Raben with musical direction by Daniel Thomas and choreography by Cheryl Baxter. Teri Bibb serves as production coordinator.

The Alex Theatre is located at 216 North Brand Blvd in Glendale. Tickets are available at the Alex Theatre box office, online at www.alextheatre.org or by calling 818-243-ALEX.

The Musical Theatre Guild's 2011-2012 season continues with: LITTLE WOMEN (February 13 and 19, 2012), A NEW BRAIN (April 16, 2012) and concludes with SHENANDOAH (June 11 and 17, 2012).
