Mazursky & Wilson Set for L.A. Reading of 'Canal Street'

By:

Canal Street, starring acclaimed director Paul Mazursky (An Unmarried Woman, Moscow on the Hudson) and "Grey's Anatomy" star Chandra Wilson (The Good Times Are Killing Me, On the Town), will be the second installment of the "Bruno Kirby Celebrity Reading Series" to be presented at The Hayworth Theatre on Monday, August 20th at 8pm.   Written by Josh Greenfield and directed by Gary Blumsack, Canal Street is a one time only performance with all tickets at $10, it was announced today by The Hayworth Theater Co-Founders Danna Hyams, Producing Director, and Gary Blumsack, Artistic Director.

In Canal Street, Mazursky "plays Milton, an ornery and abrasive nursing home resident with questionable mental faculties who is paid a surprise visit by a young woman (Chandra Wilson) claiming to be his daughter.   The two engage in a sparing match of wits and wisdom.  Will they let their differences keep them strangers or can they become a family?," state press notes.

The Bruno Kirby Reading Series premiered in June with Lou Diamond Phillips' romantic comedy Burning Desire, starring Phillips, Amy Smart and Michael Urie ("Ugly Betty").   The Reading Series is named for the beloved Bruno Kirby, showcasing celebrities who are dedicated to theatre. Kirby was well known for his performances in such films as This is Spinal Tap and Good Morning Vietnam.  His stage appearances include Neil Simon's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning play Lost In Yonkers.

The Hayworth Theatre is at 2509 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles.  Tickets are $10. For reservations : please visit www.TheHayworth.com or call brownpapertickets 1-800-838-3006.
