Internet radio platform Universal Broadcasting Network (www.ubnradio.com) is presenting its second live broadcast play reading on Sunday, June 29 at 3:00 PM PST on the station's Entertain channel (Channel 1). The work chosen for this reading is a collection of comedic short plays by writer and producer Robert Hensley, Death, Life & a Crème-filled Center.
"It's exciting to explore a new method of presentation for something created for the stage," shares Hensley. "I think this is a great fit for Death, Life & a Crème-filled Center. I wrote these plays for a black box - no sets, limited props - so the translation to an audio-only presentation should work well. It's like a Sunday matinee without needing to leave home!" Originally written for five actors to play multiple roles throughout, this reading will be performed by a larger cast for better differentiation in vocal quality for the radio. Bringing life to the characters of Death, Life & a Crème-filled Center is a talented cast including veteran character actor Veronica Alicino (Alvin & The Chipmunks,Leathal Weapon 3), Emmy award-winner Maile Flanagan (Lab Rats, Naruto), actor and stunt performer Jeff Houkal, pop singer Vano Kimmel, comedienne Whitney Rice, and award-winning actor Daniele Watts (Django Unchained, Weeds). Composer Richard Johnson (www.composerjohnson.com) created an original score for the reading.
