Los Robles Master Chorale (LRMC), among Southern California's premier choirs and lauded for its "robust choral tapestry" (Artillery), launches the joyous holiday season with Handel's Messiah, one of the most recognizable and popular choral works ever written, on Saturday, December 3, 2016, 4 pm, at The Church of the Epiphany in Oak Park, CA, which is noted for its remarkable acoustics. The chorus, led by Artistic Director Lesley Leighton, is featured with Hojun Lee, organ; Tali Tadmor, harpsichord; and Rainer Crossett, cello. Helping to bring to life this riveting English-language oratorio are soloists drawn from the ensemble, including sopranos Meredith Pyle, Veronica Robinson and Gaby Santinelli; mezzo-sopranos Katie Hampton, Roseanne Hill, Sara Mann and Ann Sheridan; tenors Douglas Appleoff, Ace Caguoia and Jasper Randall; baritones Rob Robinson, and Ralph Santitoro; and bass Joseph De Stefano. The Baroque masterpiece, composed in 1741 in just 24 days, may be the most performed classical work of all time. It is set to a libretto by Charles Jennens, who drew texts from the King James and Great Bibles.

"Breathtakingly beautiful, the Messiah is filled with vivid imagery, dramatic flair and soaring grandeur making performances exciting for audiences and performers alike," says Leighton. "The Church of the Epiphany, with its stellar acoustics, stunning staiNed Glass windows and intimate seating, is the perfect setting for this glorious holiday staple, helping the Los Robles Master Chorale's annual Messiah concert become a beloved seasonal tradition."
