La Mirada Theatre to Present BUBBLEMANIA: SCIENCE, ART & COMEDY for Young Audiences Series

By:

La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts kicks off its 2016-17 Programs for Young Audiences series with Casey Carle, comic bubbleologist, performing his amazing one-man show, BubbleMania: Science, Art, and Comedy! on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Intended for children ages 5 and up, BubbleMania: Science, Art and Comedy! is polished entertainment that combines comedy, soap-bubble science, music, and a fascinating exploration of bubbles of unusual shapes, sizes, and abilities.

BubbleMania: Science, Art and Comedy! features giant floating spheres, soap-film "serpents," bouncing bubbles, hands-only bubbling, balanced columns of bubble foam, cube bubbles (yes, cube bubbles!), the Amazing Popcorn Machine, the mesmerizing Crystal Ball, the spinning Bubble Spacecraft, and bubbles that burst into flame!

Carle, who is a cum laude graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo, began his effervescent bubbly career as a clown in the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. There, he became the first circus entertainer in the country to encase a person in a bubble. Since then, he has parlayed his comedic timing, showmanship, science know-how and bubble-making expertise into a show that has garnered broad critical praise. The Boston Globe said, "Carle creates ephemeral masterpieces out of thin soap. Behind the act is a wealth of training and a passion for this slippery art form," while the Norwich Bulletin called Carle's BubbleMania "screamingly funny."

Carle tours more than 350 BubbleMania! shows a year. He has been a bubble consultant for Pepsi and Cirque du Soleil's The Beatles LOVE. He was crowned Champion Bubble Artist after a five-day competition between the world's leading soap bubble performance artists on Japan's popular television program, "TV Champion."

Carle has received various other awards and has also been recognized by both the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism and the New England Foundation for the Arts for his educational and entertainment programs. He has been featured in Disney's Family Fun magazine and Scholastic's SCOPE magazine for teens. Carle has also co-authored a book, BubbleOlogy: A Hands-On Science Kit.

La Mirada Theatre's Programs for Young Audiences is designed to give children exposure to a diverse mix of national and international touring stage acts while enriching their lives. The season will continue with JazzReach's Yes Indeed! celebrating the Great American Blues Tradition on February 26, 2017, Silent Slapstick featuring hilarious silent short films with live piano accompaniment on March 26, 2017, and Theatreworks USA's Junie B.'s Essential Survival Guide to School on April 9, 2017.

All seats are $12. Flexible Family Packs are available with tickets as low as $9. Tickets are available online at www.LaMiradaTheatre.com or by calling the La Mirada Theatre Box Office at (562) 944-9801 or (714) 994-6310.
