442-Live with Honor, Die with Dignity
Sunday, 07.25.10 at 11am, 2pm, 5pm
The tickets for 11am and 2pm showtimes are almost sold out, but 5pm are still available.
Presented by UTB, Union Bank and JACCC.
The 442nd Infantry Regimental Combat Team is the most decorated regiment for its size and length of service in the history of the United States military. Mainly composed of Japanese Americans, the "442" fought against not only the enemy, but also prejudice during WWII.
The 442nd was in an ironic predicament, fighting for a country that had branded them as enemies. However, these young men volunteered to fight and prove their loyalty as patriotic Americans, which defined their identity as they risked their lives for the cause. The film explores the meaning of being Japanese, and what it means to love one's country, through the personal history of 442nd veterans.
442-Live with Honor, Die with Dignity is the second installment of the Japanese American trilogy following Toyo's Camera -Japanese American history during WWII, produced by veteran film director Junichi Suzuki and UTB, a bilingual Japanese television station. The true stories of the war, untold for 65 years, will be set to the soundtrack by Golden Globe award winner Kitaro.
