ICT Offers 21st Annual Summer Youth Conservatory for Kids
By: A.A. Cristi
What's cheaper than child-care, more educational than summer-camp and more fun than summer-school? International City Theatre continues to give back to the community with its 21st annual low-cost Summer Youth Conservatory for kids ages 7-15.
The four-week program, taught by professionals in the entertainment industry, offers instruction in acting, music, dance and movement, and culminates with a free presentation for parents and friends on the International City Theatre stage at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center."Through this program, students learn to think creatively, use their imaginations and work as a team - skills they will need regardless of the field they pursue in life," says ICT artistic director caryn desai. "It's also a wonderful way for students to make new friends, and many participants return year after year to see their 'theater friends' again."Beginning July 3 and continuing through July 27, classes meet Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 1 pm at The Marketplace in Long Beach, on the corner of Pacific Coast Hwy. and 2nd St. (no class July 4). The final performance will take place on the ICT stage on July 27 at 6:30 p.m. The all-inclusive fee is $425.
