Groundlings Alumna Julia Sweeney Presents Solo Show, I, AS WELL At The Groundlings Theatre The Groundlings Theatre has announced that Groundlings and SNL alumna, Julia Sweeney's brand new solo show, I, As Well, at The Gary Austin Theatre at The Groundlings School. The show opens on Sunday, September 16th, with six other scheduled performances to follow.

According to Julia Sweeney, "if you enjoy watching sausage being made, this show is for you!"

Julia's one-person comedy-monologue-polemic rant show, I, AS WELL, will be themed around the #MeToo and Time's Up movements. The general attitude in the world today is that these movements have both gone too far and not far enough, and this show aims to reflect both those sentiments through her own experimental stories, jokes, and musings.

Julia Sweeney is an actress, comedian, and author best known for her role as a cast member on Saturday Night Live. She got her comedic chops with The Groundlings, where she began to develop characters which she would later bring to the stage, film, and television. Julia has created and performed three autobiographical monologues, God Said Ha!, In the Family Way, and Letting Go of God. Julia's most recent show, a 90-minute a stand-up comedy act entitled Julia Sweeney: Older & Wider, opened to great reviews in Chicago at Second City in April earlier this year. The show will open next in Los Angeles in February 2019.

The Groundlings Theatre is an improvisation and sketch comedy theatre that has been entertaining LA audiences since 1974. They are a non-profit organization founded by Gary Austin. A "Groundling" refers to the 30 Main Company members who write and perform in the theatre's prime time slots each week.
