Gladys Knight and James Ingram Continue the Jazz Series at Hollywood Bowl
By: Gabrielle Sierra
The Hollywood Bowl presents an evening of performances by seven-time Grammy winner Gladys Knight and three-time Grammy award-winner and Oscar nominated James Ingram. The show takes place on Wednesday, July 27 at 8pm.
Gladys Knight is a soul icon and very few singers over the last fifty years have matched her unassailable artistry. This seven-time Grammy winner has enjoyed #1 hits in pop, R&B and Adult Contemporary, and has triumphed in film, television and live performance. This spring, Knight returned to the Las Vegas Strip for a "Welcome Home" special engagement at the famed Tropicana Hotel in the newly named Gladys Knight Theater, where she showcases fan favorites and newer hits alongside an 11-piece band. Georgia-born, Knight began performing gospel music at age four in the Mount Mariah Baptist Church and was the original American Idol, appearing on "TEd Mack's Original Amateur Hour." Today she continues her reign as the "Empress of Soul," while overseeing her busy career from the Las Vegas headquarters of Shakeji, Inc., her personal entertainment corporation. She has a new album, produced by Randy Jackson, due out this fall.James IngramWHEN: Wednesday, July 27, 2011
