Gideon Productions to Bring LIGATURE MARKS to Hollywood Fringe, 6/9-18

By:

After making a splash at Brooklyn's Game Play Festival in 2013, Gideon Productions decided to take their hit dark comedy original Ligature Marks onto the festival circuit. Lucky for Los Angelinos they decided to make a stop at this year's Hollywood Fringe Festival, going up at the Stephanie Feury Studio Theatre.

In Ligature Marks, Jill can't live without Terry. So it's up to both of them - and Terry's favorite online multiplayer game NOIR - to make sure she never has to. This dark and sometimes unsettling comedy from critically-acclaimed, award-winning playwright Mac Rogers charts a twisted romance between two of life's losers as they take one final shot to be something other than who they are...

"Audiences can expect a fast-paced dark comedy about relationships and online video games..." Rogers said. "And then halfway through, things take a stranger, darker path."

Honest relationships, quirky quick-paced dialogue, complex but accessible storytelling and clever twists have earned Rogers glowing reviews forLigature Marks and a number of his other original works (Sovereign, Blast Radius, Advance Man, Frankenstein Upstairs, among others) from renowned publications like The New York Times, New York Post, Backstage and more. He has also been the recipient of many awards, including the New York Innovative Theatre Award for Best Premiere Production (Advance Man), Outstanding Musical at FringeNYC (Fleet Week: The Musical) and Best Off-Off Broadway Play from the New York Independent Theatre Bloggers (Viral).

While Rogers and his works have been a mainstay (and critical darling) of FringeNYC, Ligature Marks is in his West Coast debut. The show is coming to L.A. between trips to the Cincy Fringe Festival in Cincinnati and Capital Fringe in Washington D.C.

"I almost never get to meet theatre artists and audiences outside New York," Rogers said. "When Ligature Marks did so well in its run in Brooklyn, I decided to bring it to L.A. so I could share my work with folks there and get to see what artists outside New York are up to. Ligature Marks is funny, dark, unpredictable, and has some interesting things to say about how video games and noir so perfectly resemble our increasingly circumscribed lives."
