Enfyrian Images Presents WHAT I WANT TO SAY TO YOU at Hollywood Fringe ImageTo the silenced, the courageous, the broken, the survivors, this is What I Want to Say to You, a world premiere stage play presented by Enfyrian Images. At a time when many survivors of sexual assault are being encouraged to speak out, Singer/Songwriter Em Hoggett and Director Umar Malik take you on a tumultuous ride through the mind of a young woman as she struggles to come to terms with the horrific aftermath of her rape.

Based on the 4-track EP, of the same name, by Em Hoggett; What I Want to Say to You blends intuitive music with the physical and the mystical, as we depict a young woman's odyssey from her first moment of realization to her final moments of acknowledgment. In a drama full of raw emotion and harrowing ordeals, our character faces her biggest challenge when she is faced with the most horrid side of life and the agony of learning how to come out the other end, bruised and beaten, but resolute.

"There is very little that someone struggling with rape or assault can listen to and find comfort in, knowing that someone else has felt as they do," says Hoggett. "We as survivors need songs to know that we are not alone in our feelings and that we do not need to be ashamed of our feelings. That is what What I Want to Say to You is about."

ABOUT THE COLLABORATION

Hoggett and Malik are partners who came together through their shared ambition and desire to give voices to those that are voiceless.

"When Em first came to me with this idea about making her EP into a play, I was sold right away," says Malik. "Her music has a way of pulling at the deepest and most raw parts of our consciousness to make us contemplate and understand experiences that otherwise would be foreign to many of us. To be able to bring that experience to an audience through the art of visuals is truly a remarkable endeavor."
