Dax Foundation Presents Not A Man Apart's PERICLES REDUX At Kirk Douglas Theatre 7/17-26

The Dax Foundation - a Los Angeles-based private, non-profit philanthropic foundation dedicated to helping people and animals around the world - presents a limited run of Not Man Apart Physical Theatre Ensemble's critically lauded Pericles Redux at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City, California to benefit recipients of the Foundation's Performing Arts Charitable Trust (PACT). Conceived and directed by John Farmanesh-Bocca, Pericles Redux premieres Friday, July 17, with performances continuing through Sunday, July 26. The production features the Los Angeles stage debut of three-time Emmy Award-winner, Jennifer Landon.

Not Man Apart's Pericles Redux is one of four initial Los Angeles-area live theatre productions from arts companies that have been awarded grants under the Dax Foundation's PACT initiative. The companies include: Shakespeare Santa Monica; Veterans Center for the Performing Arts; Not Man Apart Physical Theatre Ensemble; and Independent Shakespeare Company, all of which are in production this summer in the greater Los Angeles area.

Pushing the boundaries between theatre and dance, Not Man Apart Physical Theatre Ensemble and its Artistic Director John Farmanesh-Bocca present an "electrifying" reconstruction of Shakespeare's romantic odyssey, which was declared a Five Star hit by the British press at the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe. In her laudatory review of Pericles Redux, Kelly Apter of The Scotsman (U.K.) stated, "This tragicomic play is ripe with potential - all of which director John Farmanesh-Bocca exploits to the full. What captures us most is the extremity of emotion. As the story reaches its climax, don't be surprised to find yourself laughing and crying at the same time."

Farmanesh-Bocca recalls, "When we opened Pericles Redux in Edinburgh, Scotland, we felt we had a great production, but we were unprepared for such a positive response which resulted in a month of sold out performances and critical acclaim. We're honored to add Jennifer Landon to the cast and are eager to share our contemporary vision of this immortal work with new audiences in Los Angeles."

Incorporating what Farmanesh-Bocca affirms as a "smashed together" infusion of classical, contemporary and experimental stage techniques, Pericles Redux re-imagines Shakespeare's romantic odyssey, which follows the fate of Pericles, Prince of Tyre, as he escapes deadly assassins and braves many challenges to attain a wife and family which he quickly loses in a deadly storm at sea. Scattered to far off places the family desperately tries to reunite.

The full Pericles Redux ensemble includes: Alix Angelis, John Farmanesh-Bocca, Michael Buffo, Vincent Cardinale, Jennifer Landon, Jonathan Martin, Rachel McGuinness, Dash Pepin, Arnell Powell, Randolph Rand, Alexander Rogers, Ashley-Nicole Sherman, Jones Welsh and Carvell Wallace.

Pericles Redux premieres Friday, July 17 at 8pm, with performances continuing Saturday 7/18 (8pm), Sunday 7/19 (7pm), Wednesday 7/22 (8pm), Friday 7/24 (8pm), Saturday 7/25 (2 & 8pm), Sunday 7/26 (2 & 7pm). The Kirk Douglas Theatre is located at 9820 Washington Blvd. in Culver City, California.
