Grammy-nominated David Benoit will lead the prestigious ASIA AMERICA YOUTH SYMPHONY through a varied program featuring the music from the films "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Whiplash," and works by Tchaikovsky, Bizet and original works by Benoit himself, Asia America Symphony Association announced today.

This exuberant evening of classical and jazz music will begin at 8 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2018 at the James R. Armstrong Theater.

The concert will feature alumni who have moved on to become outstanding professional musicians and soloists: International Flute soloist ALBERT PAE graduate of The Julliard School & Royal College of Music; virtuoso violinist ELEANOR DUNBAR graduate from Southern Methodist University is founder and leader of the Cezanne Quartet; saxophonist JUSTIN KLUNK and graduate from USC performs with Arianna Grande ( https://youtu.be/JJJlWFJou1I ) St. Motel, and Lindsey Stirling.

"The Asia America Youth Symphony was a crucial part of my life and my decision to pursue music," says Justin Klunk, now a professional musician. "I have been fortunate along with a few others to perform at David's concerts on multiple occasions and record with the orchestra, and those experiences will stay with me forever!"

David Benoit, music director and conductor of the Asia America Youth Symphony has created and programmed a series of dynamic concerts performed by world-class Asian and American musicians. His innovative vision to fuse "East and West," as well as various music genres, has continued to inspire enthusiastic audiences throughout Southern California. Over the last quarter century, as a composer, pianist and conductor, five- time Grammy nominee David Benoit has been a passionate musical innovator committed to the exploration of many art forms on the American landscape. The Asia America Youth Symphony is one of the premiere youth symphony orchestras of southern California. In performing a wide array of musical repertoire, students are challenged to master diverse musical styles ranging from classical to jazz and film scores.
