Cortes Alexander Makes LA Concert Return In The Swell Show

The Coterie is set to present Cortes Alexander, star of Broadway's Liza's at the Palace, in an exclusive Los Angeles two-week residency. Cortes Alexander's "The Swell Show", will feature guest performances by Melissa Bailey and Jennifer Rapp. Musical direction by Ross Kalling. Opening for Mr. Alexander will be the much anticipated return of The Lovely Carol. Cortes Alexander in "The Swell Show" will take place Tuesday, January 10 & 17 in The Coterie's home at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel & Spa.

About the Artist

Theater credits include: Broadway: Most recently Liza's At The Palace (Tony award, Best Special Event), Marilyn-an American Fable, Street Heat. Off-Broadway: Pedro & Pete, Buster Breakers Insomnia. Regional Theatre: Beyond Therapy (John Anson Ford, Los Angeles), Alone Together with Florence Henderson & RoBert Reed (La Mirada), The Education of Randy Newman (South Coast Reperatory), Empire (Hudson Theatre, Los Angeles).

Four years of S.T.A.G.E benefits directed by David Galligan with his vocal group, The Tonics. While with the Tonics, they won 2 MAC awards &1 Backstage Bistro award for Vocal Group of the Year, & were featured in the PBS special "Great Performances: Sondheim, A Celebration at Carnegie Hall".

Other T.V. appearances include "Comic Relief VII", "The Rosie O'Donnell Show", "The Today Show", "Good Morning America", & "The Late Late Show w/Tom Snyder", as well as over 100 commercials & voice-overs. He was also the voice of Nyquil for 3 years.

He formed "The Cortés Alexander Trio" for Liza Minnelli's world tour, where special venues included The Sporting Club in Monaco, Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, The Kremlin in Moscow, Michigan State University and Bloomingdales Parking lot. The trio also made guest appearances with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Erich Kunzel, & the Pacific Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Richard Kaufman. Cortés was a piano major at the Juilliard School of Music's pre-college division, & a theatre major at Cal Arts.

Cortes Alexander in "The Swell Show" takes place January 10 & 17, 2012 at 8:30pm in The Coterie at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel & Spa. The venue is located on the mezzanine level inside "Twist" Restaurant. Doors will open at 7pm for dinner. Advanced tickets are $15 and may be purchased in advance at www.thecoteriela.com. $20 tickets (cash or credit) will be available at the door 1 hour prior to showtime. $5 standing room only (SRO) is also available at the bar (Must best 21+) in advance or for $10 at the door. While enjoying the music, guests are encouraged to try the delicious appetizers, entrees, desserts, and handcrafted signature cocktails.
