Coeurage Theatre Company Presents UNDER MILK WOOD, 8/27-9/11
Coeurage Theatre Company, Los Angeles' only PAY WHAT YOU WANT theatre, presents Dylan Thomas' classic play for voices: UNDER MILK WOOD. The production will run August 28th - September 11th (Preview on August 27th) Fridays & Saturdays at 8pm.
The fourth production in Coeurage Theatre Company's inaugural season, Under Milk Wood, directed by Associate Artistic Director Ryan Wagner, is Dylan Thomas' classic play for voices. In this portrayal of one night and day in the life of "a little Welsh village that never was", listen to the villagers as they dream under the "starless and bible black" sky: the "movements and countries and mazes and colours and dismays and rainbows and tunes and wishes and flight and fall and despairs and big seas of their dreams."
Under Milk Wood stars special guest artist Matthew Henerson, Coeurage Theatre Company members Aimee Karlin, Christopher Roque, Sammi Smith, and Peter Weidman, and guest artists Noah Gillett & Noel Salter.
Director Ryan Wagner first experienced the piece as an actor in a production at California State University, Fullerton, when the university brought Welsh director and theatre professor Kevin Matherick from Trinity College in Carmarthen to Orange County as part of a foreign exchange program between the two colleges. He brings his firsthand experience with Welsh culture and dialect to this production, faithfully and lovingly recreating the eccentric, seaside town and its even more eccentric inhabitants.
Running in repertory with Under Milk Wood is the original play LA Lights Fire, by Coeurage Theatre Company's resident playwright Eric Czuleger, starring Joe Calarco in a dozen roles, and runs Sundays at 7pm beginning August 29th.
