Chance Theater is pleased to present the Orange County premiere of the Tony, Drama Desk, New York Critics, and Outer Critics Circle Award-Winning black comedy/drama The Goat, or Who is Sylvia? by three-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Edward Albee, September 24 - October 24, 2010.
The play is directed by Marya Mazor, and features Peter Cassone as Martin, Chance Company Member Karen Webster as Stevie, Kevin Tobias as Billy, and Mike Martin as Ross.The Goat, or Who is Sylvia? is the tale of a married, middle-aged architect who - in the same week that he receives an international prize, wins a lucrative contract, and celebrates his 50th birthday - is forced to confess to his wife and son that he's involved in a love affair that may destroy his life.The Goat, or Who is Sylvia? premiered on Broadway at the John Golden Theatre on March 10, 2002, and won the Tony Award for Best Play, Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play, New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play, Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Broadway Play, and was a Finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. The New York Post stated, "[The Goat ] is unquestionably one of the wittiest and funniest plays Albee has ever written. Truly fascinating... Enthralling!"
