Casting Announced For THE DOOR TO AMERICA Image

Carol Weiss's new musical, "The Door to America", has released it's official cast for the 2018 She LA Arts Summer Theater Festival.

"The Door to America" is a romantic adventure framed by an immigrant's experience. A tailor (Yossel) and his wife (Sadie) arrive at Ellis Island with visions of freedom and success in this new world. They soon discover, however, that nothing comes easily. Not success. Not marriage. Yossel finds work in a sweatshop, helps create a union to benefit his coworkers, and later battles that same union to achieve his American Dream, complicating his relationship with Sadie, who asks only for a baby. Their struggles create a musical event, simultaneously touching, triumphant, and joyous.

This musical tale following the adventures of a Jewish immigrant has officially announced its talented cast. The dynamic group includes: Adam Ross Glickman ("Sound of Music" National Tour) as Yossel, Dana Meller (Eponine in "LES MISERABLES" on Broadway, Estelle in "The Full Monty" in the National Tour) as Sadie, Zach Kenney ("1776, "It's A Wonderful Life: Live in Chicago," NBC's "Chicago Fire") as Dooley/Reuben, Fay DeWitt (Broadway: "Alive and Kicking", "Pardon Our French", "Flahooley", "Vintage '60") as Mama Lenka, Mark Arthur Miller (Bailwick Rep, Reflections Theatre, and The Road Theatre) as Nathan, Anna Mintzer (Lauren in "New Dogs, Old Tricks" on Amazon Prime, u/s Maria in "The Sound of Music" National Theater) as Leah, Eleen Hsu (Performed with Andrea Bocelli, Reba McEntire, Dudamel, George Takei, Tony Todd, Musical Theatre West, Hollywood Fringe) as Molly, John Ciccolini ("How to Get Away with Murder", "The Inspectors", "Scandal", "Fresh Off the Boat", "Raising Hope") as Benny, Nick Murdoch as Stern, Alexa Vellanoweth (Margot in "Legally Blonde: The Musical" at the Cupcake Theater) as Pearl, Janet Paquette as Mrs. Greenspan, and Jack James as Rushimsky.

The creative team is about the only things that can hold a flame to this outstanding cast. Wendy Rosoff the director of "The Door to America" has performed on Broadway, regionally, and on various TV shows. Amanda Rafkin, Musical Director, has co-written music and lyrics for the new musical "300 Bones". Choreographer Jenaha McLearn has danced and performed all over the country. Technical Director and Designer Jeremy Jones has toured the country with eight different national tours.
