Candice Guardino's ITALIAN BRED to Return to Hudson Guild Theatre This Month

By: Aug. 10, 2015

Candice Guardino and her hilariously heartwarming, hit show Italian Bred packed the houses in New York City. This past February, Italian Bred premiered at the Hudson Theatre in Hollywood, to outstanding reviews, sell out crowds, and strong celebrity support. Italian Bred is being called "A Recipe for a Hilarious Sitcom," as it has been compared to The Wonder Years meets Everybody Loves Raymond, however, Italian Bred has it's own special touch, a story being told through a little girl's eyes.

Now it's back for one night only -- Monday, August 17th at 8pm at the Hudson Guild Theatre, located at 6539 Santa Monica Blvd. Hollywood, Calif.

In Italian Bred, Candice Guardino shares personal stories of growing up by impersonating various members of her family. Guardino's writing has been compared to "Woody Allen's, Radio Days...and the female version of John Leguziamo's, Freak." The show includes virtual celebrity appearances from Mario Cantone (Sex & the City), Steve Schirripa (Sopranos), Emmy Award-winner Leslie Jordan, and Vic DiBitetto (Mall Cop). Much like the nostalgic scent of Sunday dinner, Italian Bred will remind audiences of their own unique upbringing and unforgettably humorous, childhood memories.

Candice Guardino has also added to her list of successful shows, with the debut of Gilda and Margarette, a new sketch comedy show that performs at Second City LA and also on #Periscope every Mon & Wed at 9am EST, where 2 Italian-American broads from Brooklyn, "tell it like it is." They are widowed sisters, whose husband's died of heart attacks one day apart from another. They meet every afternoon on the bench outside of their building to discuss current headlines, celebrity gossip, and daily living with big hair and wine in their iconic Brooklyn accents.

Candice Guardino was born in Brooklyn, NY and earned her BA in Musical Theatre from Wagner College in Staten Island. During her career, she has written screenplays, dramas, sketch comedies, and sitcoms. Candice Guardino has appeared in Gypsy, West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie, and Antigone. Candice has also performed at the Gotham and the PIT in NYC. Candice Guardino was recently selected to be a comedy writer for the 2015 CBS Diversity Showcase, produced by CBS Casting VP, Fern Orenstein.

Tickets are purchased through Plays411 or for $10 on Goldstar LA (www.goldstar.com/events/hollywood-ca/italian-bred).
