Buttermilk Productions in association with Drumfish Productions has announced the world premiere of Caught, a new play by David L. Ray, directed by three-time Ovation Award-winner Nick DeGruccio. Caught will begin previews on November 27 and is set to open on Friday, December 3. The engagement will run through Sunday, January 23, 2011.

Over the past several years, the debate over same-sex marriage has split the country, deeply divided religious communities, and galvanized American politics. Caught is a contemporary play which examines this contentious debate through the life of one American family. The story centers around the upcoming wedding of Kenneth and Troy, a committed gay couple living in Los Angeles. Kenneth's estranged, culturally-conservative sister, Darlene, and her daughter Krystal unexpectedly visit the couple's home from south Georgia only days before the event. Through this set of circumstances, Caught explores the meaning of 'marriage,' and how the family can find a way to meet in the middle while navigating long-standing religious values and staying true to each's core beliefs.

The cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Will Beinbrink, Corey Brill, Richard Jenik, Amanda Kaschak, Micah McCain, and Deborah Puette. The design team includes set by Adam Flemming, lighting by Lisa D. Katz, sound by Elizabeth Rhodes, and costumes by Katherine Hampton Noland. Casting is by Raul Staggs, and the production stage manager is Darlene Miyakawa.

Preview performances of Caught are on Saturday, November 27 at 8pm, Sunday, November 28 at 2pm, and Thursday, December 2 at 8pm, and opening night is set for Friday, December 3 at 8:00pm. Regular performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. There will be no performances on Friday, December 24, Saturday, December 25, or Friday, December 31; there will be added performances on Sunday, December 26, and Sunday, January 2 at 7pm. The run of Caught will end on Sunday, January 23, 2011. Tickets are $20 for previews and $25 for regular performances, and may be purchased by visiting www.CaughtThePlay.com or by calling (800) 595-4849. The Zephyr Theatre is located at 7456 Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, 90046.
