Bootleg Theater Presents the World Premiere of Lisa Harris' CIRCLES, 3/5 - 3/28

By:

Bootleg Theater will present the world premiere of CIRCLES, the new play by Lisa Harris, opening in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 5, 2015 and running through Saturday, March 28, 2015. The work, directed by Andrew Heffernan, is an incendiary tango between the anima and animus. Featuring Harris and Blake Adams, CIRCLES grapples with the fundamental mysteries of human connection. Harris is best known as the original producer of the OBIE Award-winning international hit, MABOU MINES DOLLHOUSE. Performances run approximately 75 minutes, with no intermission, and start nightly at 7:30pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings for the four-week run. General admission tickets are $25 at the door, $20 online, and can be purchased here. Student and senior discounts are also available. The production will be staged at Bootleg Theater, located at 2220 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90057. Ample street parking is available. For mature audiences only. For venue and ticket information, please call 213-389-3856 or visit http://www.bootlegtheater.org. For more on the play, please visit http://www.circlestheplay.com.

"In creating this work, I was inspired by the timeless dynamic that exists when male and female find themselves on opposing sides," said Harris. "In CIRCLES, the two characters dance around the mercurial question: to merge or not to merge?"

CIRCLES serves up an incendiary tango between the anima and animus. In the play, a woman waits for her lover in the apartment that they share. When he returns, their lives change forever, leading them to play that all-too-familiar game between men and women. In the piece, they volley back and forth in the ultimate match, grappling with the unsolvable puzzle of life's most complex challenge: Love.

Will the pair last the night? Can passion sustain their partnership? Or will one text message cause their universe to collapse? CIRCLES flirts with the fundamental mysteries of human connection. It explores what it is to be understood and to understand. It asks: Are men and women fundamentally different? And: Can we truly find common ground with another?
