Blank Theatre Co. Extends 'THE JAZZ AGE' Thru 3/29

By:

Due to popular demand, The Blank Theatre Company is pleased to announce an extension of the west coast premiere of THE JAZZ AGE, written by Allan Knee, directed by Michael Matthews and produced in association with Jana Robbins Productions. THE JAZZ AGE, which began performances on The Blank's 2nd Stage on Saturday, February 7, 2009 has sold-out every performance, received excellent reviews and standing ovations.

The Blank has extended the current run until Sunday March 29, 2009.

F. Scott Fitzgerald (Luke MacFarlane), Ernest Hemingway (Jeremy Gabriel) and Zelda Fitzgerald (Heather Prete); literary history's most intriguing characters. How did they meet? What was their connection? This sexy new play goes inside their minds to fantasize on the question of "inspiration". Punctuated by the pulsating beat of a live musical trio- Grammy Award-winning recording artist Ian Whitcomb and his Bungalow Boys perform an original soundtrack live- THE JAZZ AGE asks the compelling question "Why do we do what we do?" The Academy Award-winning film FINDING NEVERLAND was based on playwright Allan Knee's personal and deeply emotional play, similarly exploring The Life and heart of writer J.M. Barrie. An evening of pure decadence, coupled with sheer brilliance, this West Coast Premiere play will breathlessly take the audience down a dark, forbidden path.

Based in Hollywood, The Blank's productions have garnered rave reviews, audience acclaim, and numerous theatrical honors. Over the years, The Blank has been nominated for 23 Ovation Awards and won 5 including "Best Musical," 14 LA Drama Critics Circle Awards and won 12 including "Outstanding Production," 21 LA Weekly Awards winning 7 including "Musical of the Year," 12 NAACP Theatre Awards winning 4 including "Best Production" and won 17 Back Stage West Garland Awards.

Most recently, The Blank was awarded the Hollywood Arts Council's coveted Charlie Award for "pursuing artistic excellence, nurturing the next generation of playwrights, and challenging itself with a grand vision."Thurs/Fri/Sat at 8pm; Sun at 2pm
