The Grove Theatre presents "Bonita and Billie", a cabaret show based on the life of Billie Holiday. As portrayed by award-winning actress Bonita Brisker, the spirit of the 1940's jazz star comes to life in this critically acclaimed performance.

The idea for this show was conceived when Ms. Brisker received high praise for her cameo performance as Billie Holiday in the production of North on South Central. "Uncanny" the LA Times reported on her performance. As written and performed by Ms. Brisker, this ode to Billie is based on Lady Day's public and private lives. In this 90 minute show, Ms. Brisker re-creates the age of jazz, "You've Changed", "Strange Fruit", "The Man I Love" and the now legendary "God Bless The Child".

"Bonita & Billie" is directed by Denise Yvonne Dowse. Best known for her role as Mrs. Teasley on Beverly Hills 90210, Ms. Dowse is a four-time winner of the Best Director Award. In 2011, she directed and starred in the highly acclaimed production of "Colored Girls" at The Grove Theatre.
