Moving Arts proudly announces the selection of its recent production "Blood and Thunder" for inclusion in the 18th annual Last Frontier Theatre Conference (LFTC) in Alaska. Playwrights and theatre professionals from across the globe will converge in Valdez, Alaska from May 16-22, 2010, for one of the premier international arts events.

"We're proud of our world premiere production of this gripping new play and thrilled that it will have a future life," said Moving Arts Artistic Director Lee Wochner. "Clearly, people have responded to ‘Blood and Thunder.'"

"Blood and Thunder" tells the story of Marcus, a con artist whose latest plan to ride out the hurricane in his Lower 9th Ward apartment is interrupted by an unwanted visitor, forcing him to face both the flood waters and the ghosts of his past. The production received plaudits from audiences as well as critical acclaim from such sources as Backstage, the Los Angeles Times and the LA Weekly.

Original cast members Candice Afia, Keith Arthur Bolden (a past NAACP Theatre Award nominee) and Tony Williams are reprising their roles.

Both the playwright, Terence Anthony, and the director, Sara Wagner, are past participants of the Last Frontier Theatre Conference, which presents the work of emerging playwrights of promise. Anthony has had several of his plays in the play lab; and Wagner has participated as an actor and featured artist. Anthony is a recipient of the Bill Cosby Screenwriting Fellowship, a member of the Dramatists Guild, and a resident artist with Moving Arts, for which he artistic directed "The Car Plays 2009." He is the writer-director-producer of the animated web series "Orlando's Joint." Wagner's previous directing credits include the Alaska productions of "Lettice and Lovage" and "Jake's Women;" "Debutantes Anonymous" in New York; and "Choke" with Moving Arts.

"The effort to bring our collaboration to Valdez is a testament to both Moving Arts and to Last Frontier's commitment to developing new work." Says Wagner, who formerly lived in Alaska.
