AFI's Great American Movie Quiz Set For the Hollywood Bowl 9.4

By: Mar. 15, 2011

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association and American Film Institute (AFI) reunite on Sunday, September 4 to bring the world premiere of The Big Picture: AFI's Great American Movie Quiz to the Hollywood Bowl. This unique spectacle will test the audience's film knowledge as questions about the movies and music are answered live by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, conducted by one of Hollywood's foremost film composers, David Newman. Popular scenes from cherished films are simultaneously projected on the Bowl's big screen.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association first partnered with the American Film Institute at the Hollywood Bowl in 2005 for The Big Picture: AFI's 100 Years of Film Scores and again in 2006 for The Big Picture: AFI's Greatest Movie Musicals.

AFI is America's promise to preserve the history of the motion picture, to honor the artists and their work, and to educate the next generation of storytellers. AFI provides leadership in film, television and digital media and is dedicated to initiatives that engage the past, the present and the future of the moving image arts. AFI preserves the legacy of America's film heritage through the AFI Catalog of Feature Films and AFI Archive, honors the artists and their work through a variety of annual programs and special events, educates the next generation of storytellers at its world-renowned AFI Conservatory, and explores new digital technologies through special workshops.
