By: Gabrielle Sierra
Two bright young talents, Los Angeles Philharmonic Associate Conductor Lionel Bringuier and gifted pianist Yuja Wang join the Los Angeles Philharmonic for an all-Russian program at the Hollywood Bowl, Tuesday, August 2, at 8 p.m. The concert opens with Bringuier leading Wang and the LA Phil in Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 and closes with Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5.
Bringuier joined the LA Phil in 2006/07 season as Assistant Conductor and was named Associate Conductor in the 2009/10 season. He won the 49th Besançon Young Conductors Competition in 2005, and was awarded the unanimous decision of the Besançon jury, the "Prix du Public" as audience favourite, as well as the top vote of the musicians of the festival orchestra, the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse. Subsequently, he has conducted and received reinvitations to some of the top orchestras in the world including the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, New York Philharmonic and the Cleveland Orchestra.Twenty-four-year-old Yuja Wang has been praised for her authority over the most complex technical demands of the repertoire, the depth of her musical insight, as well as her fresh interpretations and stage presence. Wang made her Los Angeles Philharmonic debut at Walt Disney Concert Hall in February of 2009. This concert marks her Hollywood Bowl debut.TCHAIKOVSKY Symphony No. 5WHO: LOS ANGELES PHILHARMONIC
