
The Gateway will hold its annual gala benefit, "Shake the Shore" on the evening of Friday, July 27, at 6pm, for the first time this year at Sunset Harbour in East Patchogue.
The evening's entertainment features special performances by crooner Jessica Baker acoompanied by Jeff Hoffman. Other season highlights include selections from Gateway's conservatory production of Disney's Mary Poppins Jr as well as a very special exclusive sneak preview of the next main stage musical, Cabaret, which opens Aug. 3 at The Gateway Playhouse. The evening will also highlight the partnership with East End Disability Associates with a presentation from the Creative Arts Program for their adult performing artists.
"Shake the Shore" begins with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres at 6pm, followed by dinner, dancing and live and silent auctions.
Auction items include a vacation trip to Maui, ball game tickets, backstage passes to Broadway shows; an overnight stay at Oheka Castle; luxury spa packages; special Gateway packages such as an exclusive chance to win a "Walk on Role" in Cabaret the musical, and an African safari vacation among many others.
Proceeds from "Shake the Shore" will support onstage and outreach programming at The Gateway, Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County. Community support to The Gateway is vital to its success as ticket sales alone do not cover operation and overhead costs.
