LaGuardia Performing Arts Center Presents dre.diohead, 4/30 & 5/1

By:

LaGuardia Performing Arts Center presents the world premiere of dre.diohead, a new evening length piece by the renowned NYC-based dance company dre.dance, for TWO PERFORMANCES ONLY: Friday, April 30 and Saturday, May 1. Choreographed by dre.dance co-founder and Artistic Director Andrew Palermo, with additional choreography by co-founder Taye Diggs, dre.diohead is set to music by award-winning, iconic alternative rock band Radiohead. Tickets for the world premiere of dre-diohead, by dre.dance, start at $20 and can be purchased through the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center box office at 718-482-7200 or online at www.LaGuardiaPerformingArts.org. LaGuardia Performing Arts Center is located at 31-10 Thomson Avenue in Long Island City. It is easily accessible via the 7, E, V, R, N, W Subways and the Long Island Railroad.

dre.dance embarks on an evening-length work, dre.diohead, set to the music of iconic alternative rock band Radiohead. This world premiere is abstractly set within a city block, where the lines that define public and private life are blurred as we traverse from the characters' homes to their shared street. Inspired by the universal, yet highly personal music of Radiohead, dre.dance Artistic Director Andrew Palermo shines a light through the windows, out of the doors and onto the pavement to illuminate that which binds us to, and repulses us from one another.

Founded in 2004 by Andrew Palermo and Taye Diggs, dre.dance is a New York City based contemporary dance company that fuses the extraordinary with the everyday. Emotion and power drive the company's aesthetic, while simultaneously maintaining the directors' most important quality: authenticity.
dre.dance is not a ballet company (but you will see pirouettes)
dre.dance is not an avant-garde company (but you will have a unique experience)
dre.dance is not about effects (but you will be affected)
dre.dance is immediate (but we pull from our collective history)
dre.dance is powerful (but we will let you decide)
