The Academy for the Performing Artist, Las Vegas, will present Tales from the Holly Woods a contemporary version of Die Fledermaus at the Whitney Library on December 15 at 7PM.  This production was originally produced by The Academy's parent company, Opera New York.

Fredrick Stroppel wrote the lyrics and the book for the production which is directed by Judith Fredricks, Artistic Director.

The show retains the original score by Johann Strauss but in its family-friendly, west coast version follows a movie producer to a wild party, hours before he goes to jail (for an altercation with the paparazzi). Sparked by the effervescent Strauss music, his revels are complicated by a suspicious movie star wife, an amorous tenor, social climbers, starlets and diva hopefuls, reindeers, carolers, angels, and the inevitable drop-in guests, which are all part of the mix.

Tales from the Holly Woods is scheduled for one performance only at the Whitney Library, on Saturday, December 15 at 7PM.  Tickets are $20, and can be reserved by calling the Academy for the Performing Artist box office (702) 493-9858 or on line a www.apalasvegas.org.
