The Newport Beach Jazz Party began 19 years ago and continues to excite devoted fans with world-class live jazz performances, by the world's premier artists. The customary loose party atmosphere continues to keep the event fresh and fun for attendees.
Akiko Tsuruga is revered by her peers like legendary alto saxophonist, Lou Donaldson, who calls her the queen of the organ, and Dr. Lonnie Smith who claims, "Akiko is here to stay!"
Her debut album, SWEET AND FUNKY won "Best Album of 2007" in DOWNBEAT magazine and her albums continuously reach the top-ten on the National Radio Jazz Charts.
Katie Thiroux is a triple-threat talent in bass playing, singing and composition. A force in jazz for over 30 years, her hard-swinging bass styling, buoyant vocal finesse and compelling compositions earned her a loyal following worldwide. Music legend Quincy Jones' praise for Katie is plain and simple, "this girl is it," he decrees.
