Gayatri Mantra Read at Interfaith Thanksgiving Service at a Nevada Episcopal Church

In a remarkable interfaith gesture, the Thanksgiving Service at historic St. Peter's Episcopal Church (SPEC) in Nevada's capital Carson City on November 22 evening included discourses and prayers by Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist and Jewish leaders.

Participants included Very Reverend Jeffrey Paul, SPEC Rector; JJ Tuttle, Connected Nazarene Church Lead Pastor; TJ Saputra of the Muslim community; Hindu statesman Rajan Zed; Buddhist Anne Macquarie; Evon J. Yakar, Rabbi at Temple Bat Yam in South Lake Tahoe (California). Theme of the Service was "There is always something to be thankful for". Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, read Gayatri Mantra, considered most sacred mantra in Hinduism, in Sanskrit and the audience repeated after him. Tagline of SPEC, which began as an organized Parish in 1863, is "Historic Building~Modern Spirituality".
