All-State Honor Production of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME Set for Thanksgiving Weekend

Nevada Thespians, the state chapter of the Educational Theatre Association, in conjunction with The Clark County School District will be presenting the amateur premier of The Hunchback of Notre Dame: A New Musical on November 25, 26, 27, & 28, 2016 at 2:00 pm & 7:00 pm at the Cashman Theatre. Tickets are $25.00 for orchestra, $20.00 for plaza, and $15.00 for general admission balcony seating.

From the creators of Wicked and Beauty and the Beast, Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, comes a dramatic and deeply moving retelling of Victor Hugo's epic story of love, acceptance, and what it means to be a hero. Showcasing the Disney film's Oscar-nominated score with remarkable new songs, this is a bold, highly-theatrical take on the moving tale of the scorned bell-ringer Quasimodo, the beautiful gypsy Esmeralda, and the dashing Captain Phoebus in 15th-century Paris. Be prepared to be swept away by the magic of this truly unforgettable new musical. With a cast, crew, and orchestra of some of the best high school performing artists in Nevada, this is a perfect addition to your Thanksgiving weekend. Praised in the New York Times for its "rich choral singing", and by Variety for its "intense emotion", you are sure to be enchanted by the magic of this truly unforgettable musical.

High school theatre artists from across the state had the chance to audition for this unique and exciting opportunity. Vocalists and pit musicians were chosen from school district honor choir and orchestra programs. Teachers wrote glowing recommendations for each student selected to participate in this honor production, which will be adjudicated for the June 2017 International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska. Special guests will be in attendance from the Educational Theatre Association, Music Theatre International, and Disney Theatrical Group.

This production looks at inspiring themes like finding strength, forgiveness, and hope in some of the bleakest moments of one's life. In the closing song, as cast members sing "Someday, life will be kinder, love will be blinder", your heart can't help but rejoice! Ultimately, it's a story about choosing to do the right thing and choosing to stand up for the "outcasts" among us. Hunchback portrays mature themes, parental guidance is suggested.

Following the production, cast members will be accepting donations in the lobby to benefit the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth.
