The Barn Players, Kansas City's largest, oldest and most renowned community theatre, will present a special 61st Anniversary musical benefit fund raiser, with three performances of the outstanding musical "SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM", at the Barn Players Theatre, 6219 Martway in suburban Mission. The annual benefit raises funds for production expenses, Barn Junior and Barn Kids activities and for operational needs. The Barn Players is a 501-3-c, not-for-profit organization; ticket price of $25.00 is 100% tax deductible.
Theatre in the Park Opens 2016 Season with CABARET

The musical CABARET, with music by Kansas City's own John Kander and lyrics by partner Fred Ebb, opens the 2016 summer season at Theatre in the Park on Friday night, June 3. The powerful musical about life in Berlin in the 1930s as the Nazi party begins its rise to power continues through Saturday, June 5, and again the following Wednesday, June 8 through Saturday, June 11. The box office opens at 6 p.m. and the gates to the seating bowl open at 6:30 p.m.; the show begins at 8:30 p.m.
Local Teen Playwrights Set for The Coterie's 2016 Young Playwrights Festival

It is The Coterie's favorite time of the year when world premiere readings from members of The Coterie's Young Playwrights' Roundtable will be showcased during the annual Young Playwrights' Festival at 7:00 p.m., May 1, at The Coterie Theatre, located on level 1 of the Crown Center Shops. On stage will be the work of seven staged readings including monologue, spoken word, short plays, and an excerpt from a musical. In addition, the Festival will include the WORDS + MUSIC project: five moments of new opera, as created by UMKC Conservatory composers in collaboration with Roundtable members, staged with Lyric Opera performers.
