Theatre for a Young American presents a Kansas City premiere of a musical based on the book by Judith Byron Schachner about a Siamese cat with big ears and an even bigger imagination. His daydreaming takes him to Mexico, where he conjures himself an alter-ego; a swashbuckling Chihuahua named Skippito Friskito. Valerie Mackey, TYA's Artistic Director, will direct the production.
After talking with Kansas City area librarians, Valerie says this is one of most popular books requested by children. The story is told in English with some Spanish included. It adapted by Dallas Children's Theatre Playwright-in-Residence Linda Daugherty with music and lyrics by Nick Martin.
