Musical Theater Heritage Closes Season with OLIVER!, Now thru 12/21

By:

Musical Theater Heritage will close its 12th season with the classic Broadway musical, OLIVER! playing tonight, December 4-21 at Off Center Theatre at Crown Center.

OLIVER! contains some of the catchiest songs of all time: "Food Glorious Food," "Consider Yourself," "Where Is Love," "It's A Fine Life," "I'd Do Anything," and of course the haunting "As Long As He Needs Me."

Opening in London's West End in 1960, OLIVER! ran for 2,600 performances, coming to the U.S. for a national tour in 1962, then a Broadway production in 1963. OLIVER! has been revived in London's West End and on Broadway many times, and has been a favorite of regional theaters for decades.

Many of the show's themes are still current to the 21st century, and the music is classic and timeless. MTH's production of OLIVER! is directed and music directed by Sarah Crawford. Assistant Music Director and show conductor is Jeremy Watson on piano. The cast of 50 includes Jordan Haas as Oliver, Kip Niven as Fagin, Samn Wright as Bill Sykes, and Shelby Floyd as Nancy. In addition, MTH has hired nearly every child actor in a 4-state area.

Performances are December 4-21 at the Off Center Theatre at Crown Center - 5 times a week, Thursdays @ 7PM, Fridays @ 8PM, Saturday @ 2PM & 8PM, Sundays @ 2PM.

Musical Theater Heritage's seasonal; TOYS FOR TOTS TICKET PROGRAM began last Christmas when they collected over 200 toys for needy families. A free ticket is available to anyone who brings a new, unwrapped toy, minimum $10 toy value. One free ticket is offered for every 2 people. In addition, MTH is also donating another 100 tickets to TOYS FOR TOTS for their volunteers and to give to needy families so that they can enjoy the show, too.

STUDENT TICKETS are available for only $10. All others are $17 for sides, $35 for center, and $40 for primo seats. Tickets may be purchased by calling (816) 545-6000, at the Off Center Theatre Box Office at 2450 Grand, or online at the Musical Theater Heritage website at www.MTHKC.com.

MUSICAL THEATER HERITAGE, a not-for-profit arts organization, was founded by George Harter of the "A Night on the Town" Radio Series, along with Chad Gerlt joining MTH in 2003. It is one of the Kansas City's leading professional musical theater companies. Oliver completes our goals for 2014 that included 3 musicals, 8 Musical Mondays, and several smaller events throughout the year, hiring over 130 performers and theater technicians, with an attendance of over 10,000 people.
