The Tank Pridefest: Hey Mom, I Got Engaged - Hey Mom, I Got Engaged Production

Hey Mom, I Got Engaged is a one-act play that explores unconditional love, facing your fears, and healing from trauma. A week after Maya accepts Tricia’s engagement proposal to her, Maya rescinds the proposal because she can’t face how her traditional Asian mother will react to it. On a park bench under the setting sun, Tricia, Maya, and Maya’s mother face the truths that they have been avoiding so that they can finally begin to heal together.

This play will be performed as a lightly staged workshop at The Tank (312 W 36th St, New York, NY, 10018) on Sunday, June 28 at 3:00pm as part of their annual Pridefest. The expected time commitment is at least 8 hours of rehearsals (including 4 hours of tech).

We are currently looking for creative team members and actors for the workshop! To be considered, please complete this Google Form by 11:59pm on Wednesday, May 20. If there is a high volume of applications, the form may close early.

This opportunity is paid, with production team members expected to receive at least $50 up to a month after the performance ends.
