CASTING CALL: POPS - Speed Skating Sloth

We are seeking a non-white/POC man, late 30s-50s, for the role of POPS in the staged reading of our family musical, Speed Skating Sloth, making its debut at Washington DC's District Fringe Festival (July 2026). 

Speed Skating Sloth is about Archie the sloth, who dreams of becoming a speed skater, set in a rainforest world of animal characters. The show is written and produced by The Emerson Twins (Taylor & Hayley Emerson), directed by Stephen Emery (Broadway Center Stage, The Kennedy Center), and music directed by Paige Rammelkamp (Helen Hayes Award nominee).

POPS (he/him): Our protagonist's father and owner of Milly's Shoe Shop. Strict, loving in his own imperfect way, and already has his daughter's future mapped out. Strong actor with musical theatre experience required.

NON-EQUITY ONLY.

Rehearsals: June 24 - July 17, 2026 | Washington, DC 

Performances: Post-July 17 (to be announced this week!) | University of the District of Columbia 

Stipend: $200 + contract provided upon casting

We recognize $200 does not reflect the full value of our cast's time and talent. What we can offer beyond the stipend: a professional creative team, a three-piece live band, and the opportunity to originate a role in a show at the very beginning of its life.
