Drunk Shakespeare WASHINGTON, DC - Seeking Performers
Drunk Shakespeare Washington, DC
$901.77 per week
Listing Information
The exciting world of Off-Broadway's hottest sensation, Drunk Shakespeare, is searching for versatile performers who exude charisma, creativity and an insatiable desire to connect with the audience.
Every evening, a group of five skilled performers, members of 'The Drunk Shakespeare Society,' gather to put on a mesmerizing play. But here's the thrilling twist: one among them bravely indulges in multiple shots of liquid courage, setting the stage for an unforgettable performance.
Since 2014, Drunk Shakespeare has been entertaining audiences from all over the world with productions in NYC, Chicago, DC, Phoenix, Houston and Los Angeles. Drunk Shakespeare is a New York Times Critics’ Pick and the Chicago Tribune said it “may just wind up being one of the most enjoyable ways to experience a tragedy.” Alumni from the cast have gone on to perform on Broadway, in the West End, Blue Man Group, The Deuce, Billions, Sunnyside and on national tours.
BREAKDOWN Our upcoming shows are Drunk Romeo and Juliet and a new show within our Drunk concept. All roles are ensemble-based and if cast you will learn multiple tracks.
We're looking for extraordinary, versatile performers with exceptional comic instincts, magnetic stage presence, and the ability to command a room. We celebrate bold individuality, unique talents, a love of classic storytelling, and fearless, generous ensemble play.
As part of our rotating troupe, you'll collaborate with directors to create unforgettable characters, embrace your strengths, and discover new possibilities as a performer. We want artists who are hungry to play, eager to surprise, and wildly excited to connect with an audience.
Above all, we're looking for performers who don't just put on a show—they make every guest feel like they're part of something extraordinary. Together, we create an outrageous, joyous, gloriously chaotic experience that could only happen with these actors, this audience, on this night.
Note: Cast members are required to drink onstage approximately once per week. Strict drinking guidelines and guardrails will be adhered to.
Audition Content & Performance Notice
Before auditioning, we want to be transparent about the nature of the material in our shows.
Our productions feature adult, bawdy, and sexually suggestive comedy, including strong language, sexual jokes, innuendo, and frequent references to sex and anatomy. Performers may also be asked to handle comedic adult props or novelty items representing body parts, participate in sexually suggestive bits, use their own bodies in suggestive or sexually comedic ways, and engage directly with audience members as part of flirtatious jokes or improvised interactions. This type of humor and audience interaction is a regular part of the performance style and is not limited to an occasional moment in the show. We completely understand and respect that this kind of material is not comfortable or appropriate for everyone. Performers should never feel pressured to audition for work that does not align with their personal boundaries. At the same time, because this material is fundamental to the shows, anyone who would be uncomfortable regularly performing this type of comedy will find that this is not the right work environment for them. We want everyone auditioning to have this information in advance so they can make the choice that feels right for them. Thank you. Contracts offered:
