Gateway Playhouse is Long Island’s longest running professional theatre, producing live theatre in historic Bellport Village, New York since 1950. In addition to its Main Stage season of professional musicals and plays featuring Actors’ Equity Association performers and Local 802 musicians, Gateway Playhouse operates educational programs serving young artists, technicians and the next generation of theatre professionals.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Gateway Playhouse is committed to enriching its community through arts, entertainment, and educational programming.
Gateway Playhouse is seeking an experienced Company Manager to oversee the day to day administration, logistics, communication, and care of its company members and guest artists.
The Company Manager serves as the primary administrative liaison between artists and Gateway Playhouse, supporting each company member from arrival through rehearsals, performances, and departure.
Start Date: November 1, 2026
Compensation: $41,000 per year
Housing: Furnished company housing and utilities provided at no cost
Introductory Period: 90 days
Reports To: General Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the primary contact for guest artists and company members throughout their residency.
Manage day to day company operations, communications, schedules, and administrative needs.
Coordinate guest artist travel, arrivals, departures, local transportation, housing assignments, and related logistics.
Coordinate housing readiness, cleaning, linens, maintenance, and repairs with Gateway Playhouse Facilities.
Prepare and verify weekly company payroll, reimbursements, union benefits, and related documentation for processing by General Management.
Maintain working knowledge of applicable union agreements, including AEA, SDC, and Local 802, and help ensure Gateway Playhouse meets its contractual obligations.
Track Company Management expenses and operate within approved budgets.
Assist company members with medical needs, workplace injuries, workers compensation documentation, and other issues that arise during their residency.
Address company concerns and assist General Management with conflict resolution, disciplinary matters, and union communication as appropriate.
Provide or arrange appropriate Company Management coverage during rehearsals, technical rehearsals, performances, and other production activities.
Work closely with Stage Management, Production Management, Artistic, Facilities, and other departments on matters affecting company members.
Collect and maintain artist bios, headshots, billing, credits, and other information required for programs and Marketing.
Submit approved company and complimentary ticket requests to the Box Office.
Coordinate artist hospitality, opening nights, Press/company events, and other activities supporting the company experience and morale.
QUALIFICATIONS
One to Three years professional experience in Company Management, General Management, Stage Management, or a comparable theatrical management role.
Working knowledge of professional theatre operations and theatrical unions. Familiarity with AEA, SDC, and Local 802 preferred.
Superior organizational, communication, management and problem solving skills.
Experience with payroll preparation, expense tracking, and related administrative processes.
Strong judgment, discretion, diplomacy, and an artist centered approach.
Ability to remain calm, responsive, and flexible in the changing environment of live theatre.
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Availability to work onsite in Bellport, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the production schedule.
