Gateway Playhouse is Long Island’s longest running professional theatre, producing live theatre in historic Bellport Village, New York since 1950. In addition to its Main Stage season of professional musicals and plays featuring Actors’ Equity Association performers and Local 802 musicians, Gateway Playhouse operates educational programs serving young artists and the next generation of theatre professionals.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Gateway Playhouse is committed to enriching its community through arts, entertainment, and educational programming.

Gateway Playhouse is seeking an organized and dependable Assistant Company Manager to support the day to day administration, logistics, communication, and care of its company members and guest artists.

Working closely with the Company Manager, the Assistant Company Manager helps support each company from arrival through rehearsals, performances, and departure.

Start Date: November 1, 2026
Compensation: $33,000 per year
Housing: Furnished company housing and utilities provided at no cost
Introductory Period: 90 days
Reports To: Company Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the Company Manager with day to day company operations, communications, schedules, and administrative needs.
Serve as an additional point of contact for guest artists and company members during their residency.
Assist with guest artist travel, arrivals, departures, local transportation, housing assignments, and related logistics.
Help coordinate housing readiness, linens, inventories, cleaning, maintenance needs, and repairs with the Company Manager and Facilities.
Assist with preparing and verifying weekly payroll information, reimbursements, union benefits, and related documentation.
Maintain organized company records, contact information, schedules, receipts, and production files.
Assist with tracking Company Management expenses and reimbursement requests.
Help ensure applicable union requirements and company policies are communicated and followed.
Assist company members with routine needs and promptly communicate concerns, emergencies, medical issues, or workplace injuries to the Company Manager.
Provide Company Management coverage during rehearsals, technical rehearsals, performances, and other production activities as assigned.
Assist with artist transportation, including pickups and drop offs, and coordinate with Company Management drivers and hourly support personnel as needed.
Assist with collecting artist bios, headshots, billing, credits, and other information required for programs and Marketing.
Submit or assist with approved company and complimentary ticket requests.
Support artist hospitality, opening nights, company events, meet and greets, and other activities supporting the company experience.
Assist with local audition logistics and other Company Management responsibilities as assigned by the Company Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience in Company Management, Stage Management, theatre administration, hospitality, or a comparable theatrical role preferred.
Familiarity with professional theatre operations and theatrical unions preferred.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and follow through.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing needs.
Professional, discreet, dependable, and comfortable working closely with artists and staff.
Basic familiarity with payroll documentation, expenses, and administrative record keeping.
Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or similar administrative systems.
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.
Availability to work onsite in Bellport, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the production schedule.
