The Theatre and Dance Department invites applications for a one semester full-time faculty position in Scene Design in a thriving Theatre and Dance Department starting January, 2022.
The successful candidate should be an actively practicing artist with a significant background in professional and educational in Scene Design. We expect our faculty and staff with a commitment to affirming the core values of Nazareth College in developing equity minded, and socially just leaders, and demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive pedagogy with the goal to build an inclusive and equitable community of learners.
Primary responsibilities include:
Teach Styles and Ornamentation, Scene Painting, Rendering for the Stage, and design scenery for one spring 2022 production.
Work with the technical director on set construction and scene painting.
Collaborate with the technical director on supervising student workers and lab students in the scene shop.
Participate in Portfolio Reviews and Senior Comprehensive committees for students in the BFA Theatre Design and Technology program.
Participate in Portfolio review of the prospective students for the BFA Theatre Design and Technology program, and other recruitment activities.
A terminal degree with an emphasis in set design is required
Experience working in a higher education environment.
The successful candidate should demonstrate potential as an excellent teacher and mentor and the ability to model professional standards. They should have the experience and interests working with culturally diverse groups, and experience building a diverse and inclusive teaching and learning environment.
