Summer Intern - Off-Beat Players

LISTING INFORMATION

Off-Beat Players is an inclusive theatre company for young adults that features performers and production staff with and without disabilities. The Off-Beat Players internship program offers candidates a unique immersion into the efforts behind running a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to inclusion in the arts. Prospective interns should be prepared to jump right in and thrive in a fast-paced theatrical environment.

Interns will be directly supervised by members of the production team, as well as 2 Board members who will conduct weekly check-ins. Interns should apply to a specific area of focus they would like to specialize in, depending what skills they would be most interested in pursuing the growth of. Whether you have a background in theater, a background in special education, or neither, you are encouraged to apply!

If you are a student seeking to fulfill a course requirement or receive credit through the internship, Off-Beat Players will be happy to fill out any necessary paperwork.

We are currently offering unpaid internships in the following areas of focus:

Artistic Intern

- Work with the Artistic Director to facilitate blocking and character development

- Assist cast members with line memorization, choreography, and other elements of the rehearsal process

Music Intern

- Work with the music director to teach music to the full cast, small groups, and individuals

- Assist performers with reading music, learning harmonies, and practicing solos

- If proficient in an instrument, the music intern may also play in the pit for performances

Set Design Intern

- Work with the Artistic and Technical directors on designing and constructing safe, functional, and visually appealing set pieces

Lighting/Sound Intern

- Work with the Artistic and Technical directors on designing and implementing lighting and sound elements

Prop/Costume Intern

- Work with the Artistic and Technical directors on designing and procuring props and costumes

Production Intern

- Work with the production team, producers and Board of Directors on the marketing and publicity of the show

Social Media Intern

- Work with producers and the Board of DIrectors to manage social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) and company website

- Assist in the creation of organic content for marketing, fundraising, and publicity purposes

In addition to the specific expectations of each of the above internships, all interns should be self-motivated and detail-oriented with a strong capacity to multitask. All interns may also be assigned additional tasks as needed.

All rehearsals will take place at the Greenwich Country Day School Performing Arts Center (401 Old Church Road, Greenwich, CT 06830). Rehearsals typically take place between the hours of 5 PM and 9 PM on weeknights. Interns should note any foreseeable conflicts when submitting their application.
