POSITION SUMMARY:

Theatre Raleigh is seeking a skilled, collaborative, and detail-oriented Property

Manager / Carpenter to join our production staff. This hybrid role will serve as the lead

on all prop design, fabrication, sourcing, and maintenance for our Mainstage season,

Theatre Raleigh ACT education department and special events, while also supporting

the scenic department with general carpentry work as needed. This individual plays a

crucial role in helping bring our productions to life. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Properties (Primary Role):

• Collaborate with directors and designers to research, design, source, build, or

modify props in alignment with each show’s aesthetic and budget.

• Manage the props budget and maintain accurate records of purchases and

rentals.

• Oversee prop storage, maintenance, and inventory across productions and

seasons.

• Coordinate and attend all design meetings, tech rehearsals, and production

meetings as needed.

• Supervise and mentor props interns or overhire staff when applicable.

• Work with stage management and other departments to track and troubleshoot

prop needs during rehearsals and performances.

Carpentry (Secondary Role):

• Assist in scenic construction, load-ins, and strikes as needed, under the direction

of the Production Manager/Technical Director.

• Operate and maintain shop tools and ensure a safe, organized working

environment.

• Participate in scenic painting, rigging, or scenic dressing when required. QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 2–3 years of professional experience in props and scenic carpentry,

preferably in a regional or professional theater setting.

• Strong knowledge of prop fabrication techniques, materials, and sourcing

methods.

• Solid carpentry skills with familiarity using a wide range of hand and power tools.

• Ability to read and interpret scenic and prop design drawings.

• Self-motivated, organized, and adaptable to fast-paced rehearsal and tech

environments.

• Strong communication and time management skills.

• Must be comfortable working independently and collaboratively with a small,

hands-on team. COMPENSATION

• Starting at 40K yearly
