ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Fulton Theatre is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to serve as part of the Executive Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Executive Artistic Producer/CEO and responsive to the Board of Trustees. The CFO will be responsible for the management, oversight and performance of all financial and accounting functions at the Fulton, ensuring transparency, sustainability and compliance. As leader of the Finance and Accounting team, the CFO will oversee financial forecasting, analysis, reporting, accounting and budgeting. The CFO will use their expertise to advise and partner with teams across the organization to enhance budgeting and financial planning abilities, internal controls, and further develop accountability for and ownership of financial performance among managers and staff.



KEY FUNCTIONS:

• Lead the preparation, implementation and ongoing management of the annual operating and capital budgets and occasional capital campaign budgets.

• Manage all finance and accounting functions of an $8 million+ annual operating company including: contributed and earned revenue; accounts payable and accounts receivable; payroll; cash flow management; federal and state annual reporting and payment; vendor management; bank accounts, investment and endowment accounts; fixed assets and debt/ equity financing; and financial reports.

• Plan, organize and manage the activities of staff supporting the Finance and Accounting functions; determine workflows and assignments; regularly evaluate accounting procedures and practices.

• Develop and manage dynamic financial and business planning models with performance metrics that drive strategy, functional reporting and the annual budgeting process.

• Partner with the CEO and Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees on key strategic issues and decision making informed by rigorous financial analyses, risk assessments and due diligence.

• Prepare financial reports and documents for internal and external stakeholders, including preparation and review of financial data for grant reporting requirements and for grant proposals, monthly Statements of Financial Position and Activities, annual audits and Form 990’s.

• Manage the annual audit and maintain relations with external auditors, ensuring all financial audits and related filings are completed on-time and in good standing.

• Serve as the company liaison with bankers, accountants, tax attorneys, and the Finance, Audit and Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees.

• Negotiate with creditors, service providers and other financial entities.

• Administer insurance policies, including general liability, property, directors and officers, and workers’ compensation. Maintain positive relationships with brokers and insurance carriers.



SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate will possess:

• 5+ years of experience as a CFO, Controller or Director of Finance in a non-profit performing arts organization.

• Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles and practices.

• Non-profit accounting experience with ticket sales, multiple revenue streams, contributed income, capital and endowment funds, audit process, capital campaign budgeting and cash flow management.

• Demonstrated success managing revenue and expenses; planning and managing effective systems of internal controls.

• Exceptional strategic and analytical skills, including financial modeling, planning, forecasting and data analytics.

• Experience with Sage Intacct or other financial software. Familiarity with Tessitura is highly desirable.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability and willingness to problem solve and collaborate with others.

• Proactive, positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a sense of humor.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration is strongly recommended. An MBA, Masters in Finance, Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations are desirable.



COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary and benefits will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
