School of Theatre at Florida State Presents Roald Dahl's JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH This Weekend

The School of Theatre at Florida State University proudly presents James and the Giant Peach this weekend, Nov. 20-23, written by Roald Dahl and Dramatized by Richard R. George. Directed by FSU alum Jason Chimonides, the cast and crew bring Dahl's beloved classic to the stage for adults and children alike. James and the Giant Peach was originally published in 1961 as Roald Dahl's first novel and continues to be a favorite among readers today.

Performances are Wednesday - Saturday at 7:00pm, Saturday and Sunday at 2:00pm, Sunday at 4:00pm. The Fallon Theatre is located in the Fine Arts Building (540 West Call Street, Tallahassee, FL 32306) on the Florida State University Campus.

James is a lonely orphan who dreams of life elsewhere, when he stumbles upon some magic worms and a giant peach begins to grow in his front yard! James and his new family of magically overgrown insects travel aboard this peach across the ocean, through shark-infested waters and inhabited skies, to New York City!

BA Theatre major Rusty Griffin stars as James Trotter. Other members of the cast include Hudson Meeks (Centipede), Olivia Orsin (Spider), Emma Blake Handler (Earthworm), Joshua Hernandez (Grasshopper), Charish Harvey (Ladybug), Yankiel Camaraza (Silkworm), and Natalie Rankin (Glow Worm). James and the Giant Peach features scenic design by guest artist Teddy R. Moore III, costume design by MFA Costume Design candidate Josh Winchester, and lighting design by MFA Technical Production candidate and School of Theatre Lighting Supervisor Paul Anton.

Since his time as an MFA Directing student at Florida State, Director Jason Chimonides has gone on to become a successful Actor, Director, and Writer for the screen and stage. He has directed for Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Vital Theatre, Manhattan Theatre Source, Juggernaut Theatre Company, Theatre Jacksonville, Electric Theatre, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Jason's original plays include The Optimist, serverLove, The Bluest Water: A Hurricane Camille Story, The Stone Age, Humans: An Elf Story, and Lars Loomis Being.
