The electric playing of traditional musicians Dave Sheridan, Ciarán Somes and AiDan Brennan is set to resound around the historic Strokestown Park House when they play a session in the galley kitchen next Thursday 12th August. Together, these musicians play seamlessly and with huge energy, that is guaranteed to lift your heart and have your toes tapping.

Originally from county Offaly, Dave Sheridan has lived in Carlow for nearly 25 years now. He has competed in and won many of the competitions in traditional Irish music over the years, including Fleadhanna, Scor and Oireachtas. He now teaches fiddle to children from all over Co.Carlow and travels to festivals throughout Ireland and abroad. He recently travelled to Japan and China representing Ireland and has appeared on television and radio programmes - ‘Geantraí', ‘Féilte', ‘Come West Along the Road' and ‘Céilí House' amongst these.

Also a county Clare man, Ciarán Somers began playing the tin whistle at the age of ten under the guidance of Micky Byrne and the local Comhaltas Ceoltoirí Éireann branch. This was the beginning of a life long friendship between two until Micky's passing in April 2008. Moving on to the flute, he took lessons from John Browne of Carlow. John is responsible for teaching scores of flute players in the area but is more associated with the tin whistle today. John's technique and expressive slow air playing is of the highest standard yet his tendency to shy away from the spotlight has meant that he is recognised locally rather than nationally as a true great of that instrument.

He is an experienced instrumental teacher and is on the teaching staff of the annual Willie Clancy Summer School and is in regular demand as an instructor in the United States and Europe. In May of this year, Ciaran was selected for a nationwide Music Network tour titled ‘Bhios i Lá i bPort Lairghe' alongside Uilleann piper David Power and Fiddler Fionn McGuilla Chuda. Dave and Ciarán will be joined by guitar player AiDan Brennan for what is sure to be a memorable performance in Strokestown.
