The team behind the hugely successful stage adaptation of Minding Frankie now bring to the stage an adaptation of Maeve Binchy's first ever-published novel Light A Penny Candle. Adapted by Shay Linehan, this world premiere production will be directed by Peter Sheridan and will run at The Everyman, Cork, from Tuesday April 16th to Saturday, April 20th at 8pm.

Maeve Binchy is one of those rare writers, like Dickens, Wilde or Shaw, whose work springs from their larger-than-life personalities. Their unique voices are captured in their work. This novel was ahead of its time, Maeve highlighted some of the major social issues we are still dealing with today, all through the prism of her trademark wisdom, warmth, and humour.

Staring Dancing with the Stars contestant, Clelia Murphy, and India Mullen and Kate Gilmore, Light A Penny Candle is a tale of an enduring, life-long, friendship which asks some burning questions - a back-street abortion? A murder cover-up? Aisling and Elizabeth have to survive DeValera's Ireland, their raging hormones, and the struggle for independence in a world at war. Through it all, they discover that there is no right and wrong in this world, there is only what is right for those you love. This is Maeve Binchy as you know her and at her best.

Light a Penny Candle will be at The Everyman, Cork, Tuesday 16th to Saturday 20th April, with a Meet and Greet on Tuesday 16th. Booking: (021)4501673 or www.everymancork.com
