Following successful runs and nightly standing ovations in Wexford Opera House and Cork Opera House, Bare Cheek Theatre Company are delighted to bring the first professional Irish production of the award winning musical RENT to the Olympia for four performances only.

RENT is a rock opera with music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson based on Giacomo Puccini's opera, La Boheme. This award winning musical is the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, falling in love, finding their voices and living for today.

Artistic Director Tony McCleane-Fay has assembled an amazing cast of actors for this production. Alan McHale, plays Mark Cohen, a struggling documentary filmmaker; his best friend Roger Davis, a failed musician is played by,Chris Schmidt-Martin; Marnie McCleane-Fay is dancer and heroin junkie Mimi Marquez; Elaine Hearty, (Furry in ‘Fair City'), is spunky performance artist Maureen Johnson; Oba Seagrave is tough, headstrong Harvard-educated lawyer Joanne Jefferson; Stephen Lynch is Benjamin "Benny" Coffin III; Gary Furlong is HIV-positive philosophy teacher Tom Collins, and Denis Grindel is Angel Schunard, a Drag Queen with a heart of gold.

The strong creative team includes: musical direction by Dave ‘Doc' O'Connor conducting a live rock band on stage, set design by Joe Stockdale and lighting and direction by Tony McCleane-Fay

RENT has changed Broadway forever and transformed how a generation feels about musical theatre. Whether it's your 1st time or your 100th time, you won't want to miss this production of RENT.
