National Dance Company of Ireland Presents Rhythm of the Dance 3/18

By: Mar. 07, 2011

The National Dance Company of Ireland proudly presents a two-hour dance and music extravaganza-Rhythm of the Dance, at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on Friday, March 18 at 8 p.m.

Rhythm of the Dance is an inspiring epic, reliving the journey of the Irish Celts throughout history. It uses traditional dance and music with the most up to date stage technology-- a thousand year old story executed with all the advantages of the modern day stage show. Rhythm of the Dance has heralded a new era in Irish entertainment. Internationally rated as one of the most popular and busiest Irish step dance shows in the world, Rhythm of the Dance upholds the purity of the traditions of Irish step dancing, while presenting it in the most modern format. The show features a live band, three tenors & some 22 dancers. Using the traditional and modern arts of dance (ballet, modern dance, jazz) and music this richly costumed show marries the contemporary and the ancient. Rhythm of the Dance has played to over 5 million fans in 33 countries worldwide.

Rhythm of the Dance is the story of the Celtic clans of Leinster and Ulster who have been at war for decades. These once peaceful people have been driven into battle by their rulers' lust for land and power. The last great battle of their time has left the land devoid of a ruling power. With the Emerald Isle left in ruins, two great Celtic warriors now stand to rebuild what is lost. As the new generation comes to power, with them comes a glimmer of hope, the hope that one day the Emerald Isle shall stand united and peace shall reign once more.

Ticket prices range from $10 to $50. For more information and to buy tickets, contact the Van Wezel Box office at
